Hi I found this board by googling yesterday. I want to thank you for about an hour of great memories. I grew up in Selden and have been away from LI for about 7 years now.
You all mentioned so many things and places that I miss so much.
The last time I visited LI was about 4-5 yrs ago. With all of LI's frustrations, as soon as I'm back I get that feeling that LI really IS the center of the universe!
No I'm not Mormon, but they are great people, make the best neighbors.
From Ronkonkoma....remember Henry the Hotdog Man??
I wasnt too far from you. Stony Brook, it sounds familiar, but I cant picture him! Back when I was a "teenager" my father use to bring me to that German resturant/Bar on the lake! Never ate but they had the best German beer!
Ha, that would be the Bavarian Inn. Was only there 2-3X...but when I was little I thought the outside was so sophisticated looking! And there was a (kind of hidden) trailer park across the street from it....the only one I had ever seen until I moved down south (talk about culture shock!).
My Dad would sometimes take the boat out at Stony Brook.

Yeah I used to fish off the pier there in stony brook as a kid. I love the "Old Stony Brook", nice and quaint!
I do remember the Volkswagon salad bar in the Bavarian Inn. That goes back along time ago, I was a little kid last time I saw it.
