Ah yes, the old troll's trick of "lol u mad?" You certainly won this great debate. I'm downright furious. I can barely even punch these keys I'm so upset. What shall I do to recover from this humiliating defeat at the hands of a mental midget?

If the minimum wage was $15.25, i'm wondering if we could see less people actually going to college. There are many college grads that make $15.25 or less .

It looks like we are already seeing businesses diversify out of L.A because of this min wage issue too.

Meanwhile other places in SoCal are actually catering to these businesses.

This is an article that mentions Tony Yanow , owner of Golden Road brewing and several other popular bars in L.A

Would an L.A. minimum wage hike push businesses to nearby cities? - LA Times

He is opening a new big place in Anaheim near Angels Stadium.

The problem is that most people that don't own a business don't understand the costs and profit margins in most businesses.

Most small businesses are barely making much money. If they end up paying like 50% more in wages that could likely leave nothing for them to live off.

Prices would likely go up a lot too (inflation) so although one might be 'making more money) the buying power is less.

A better solution would be to focus on improving education and also fostering and supporting businesses.

$15 an hour is good for something to live on, but I can't see people ditching college because of that. You need more than 30 grand a year moving forward.

I guess the question is , will college wages go up too? Most of the reason people go to college these days in reality is because they think they will make a considerably higher wage. In reality a lot of college grads aren't working for much more than $15 and in some cases less than this.

It could also be worse for those without an education if employers are paying $15 an hour they could attract college grads over non college grads.

Those are just platitudes. Completely non-specific.

Hyperinflation retrospective...
Cessna 172 Skyhawk - 4 passenger aircraft.
1956 $8,700
2010 $269,500

Federal Minimum Wage
1956 - 0.75 / hour
2010 - 7.25 / hour

Hours of work (min. wage) needed to buy a plane (not including taxes deducted)
1956 - $8,700/0.75 = 11,600 hrs
2010 - $269,500/7.25 = 35,933 hrs

. . .
So despite an almost TENFOLD increase in "minimum wage" it takes THREE TIMES as much labor to buy the airplane.
Aren't you glad you didn't demand government cease corrupting the money system?

Well, you can start by increasing the minimum wage. Legal. And moral.
Why don't we subject it to a vote?

Because people are stupid and Americans routinely vote against their self-interest. We have a representative democracy for a reason. We're supposed to elect people that are smarter than us to vote in ways that benefit us and the greater good of the nation.
