Please don't go off-topic with the usual irrelevant/misleading arguments (this time about old criminal cases). ADA, OSHA, restaurant inspections, precedent, blah, blah, blah - via at least "regulations and codes," the government should be addressing airborne virus spread in restaurants and probably other places.

And they won't be. So it appears your logical solution would be not to go to restaurants. Problem solved. That was easy.

Those are Supreme Court rulings. Not criminal cases.

Best of luck to you.

I loved not having crowds when most people were still terrified to go eat out. Not so anymore.

They are rulings about criminal cases. It has nothing to do with this, which boils down to government duties re safety requirements and de facto discrimination (against at-risk people). It has nothing to do with COVID-19 at all.

I'm not going to put up with that stay-home-indefinitely attitude in the real world, nor attempts to prevent respectful discussion about the issue.

Respectfully, no one told you to stay home. You're doing that to yourself.

The world is open. Come on in ... the water's fine.

So far this year, I've already been to 4 countries. And no covid! (although I did catch RSV from my oldest toddler).

Not that I personally always stay home (because that is not practical or necessary), but I will not tolerate nonsense directed at me or others about the situation being safe when it isn't, restaurants in particular standing out as unsafe (and sadly so, because they normally would be enjoyable to me and almost everyone else). You are part of the problem. Just stop talking and probably extend your pretense into acting like this thread doesn't exist.

A Sacramento/Modesto article, but fully applicable here, with me pointing out that LA is more infested with COVID-19.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/thai-drug...125446543.html

Quote:
California will follow the SMARTER plan the state announced in February 2021, according to previous Sacramento Bee reporting. It follows the seven letters in the word “smarter” with S signifying shots, M for masks, A for awareness, R for readiness, T for testing, E for education and R for Rx treatment.

The endemic plan, as it was presented, aims to expand the state’s network of healthcare providers, update contact tracing protocols and boost its stockpile of supplies like masks, ventilators and prescriptions.
In other words, accurately the situation is not back to normal and the virus didn't magically become a cold.

Solid article, until the end, where it gets to the CDC's dubious grading system and reported numbers (when everyone knows many or most test results aren't shared with the government) and overlooks chronic conditions that sometimes follow infection.
