oh wait...out the back door there is a place that only gets very early sunlight....hmmm.... ok, problem solved....hadn't thought of that spot!
Or you could make a bit of shade for it.

I use one of those digital thermometers that has a small probe that goes outside. The probe is tacked at (under) the edge of the eaves. The morning sun is behind the trees and doesn't strike it when rising, and by the time it gets above the trees, the overhang protects it.

There are some others that are wireless. You can put the outside sensor anywhere you want and it uses a weak radio signal to transmit the temp to the inside display. (LOL, more technical than you want?)

I thought I was bad, but that one didn't even occur to me. It was, however, somewhat difficult to keep quiet when someone asked for the recipe for the "Peanut-butter Balls".

LOL.... I can see where that would be difficult!!

Nope, not too technical....and I haven't bought the new thermometer yet, so I think going with that is a great idea...I don't know how long mine's been broken, but I know it wasn't 40 this morning

Maybe it's reading the national average. We were up to 70 today, and will be 76 the next two days.

I need to put some air in a tire on my Willy.

I did not want to leave the air compressor hose running through an open door, so I set the air compressor outside and just ran the air hose over to our parking lot.

When I was done I began to roll-up the air hose when,

It snapped and broke, the rubber air-hose was so cold that it had become brittle. It could not withstand the cool temps.
