West Quoddy is a lighthouse off Lubec. As you go in to Lubec on 189 you make a right and go another 4.5 miles or so.

Just for a quirky bit of trivia, the West Quoddy Lighthouse is the easternmost lighthouse in the United States.

And East Quoddy Head is at the north end of Campobello in Canada.

Well, yeah, but they call it the Head Harbor light, probably just to add some confusion.

And it totally works. It took me a while before I realized that both names refer to the same lighthouse. Retired, have they made east quoddy head into a b&b yet?

Not as of the last time I was there. But that was 2 summers ago. Just the same old cliffs with the same old rusted stairs from one rock to the other. Not too dangerous.

Gussie brought this to my attention ... driving from MN to ME (praying for Eastport) with a couple of dogs ... he mentioned NH isn't kind to travelers with pets ; google direction map suggests driving I90 thru NY and MA then north to Eastport. Anyone else make this drive? ANY suggestion/recommendation is most appreciated!

I'm not sure what "not kind to travelers with pets" means. If it means there are not many "pet-friendly" motels, the simple answer is just don't stay overnight in new Hampshire. It should not take very long at all to cross NH, even if you wanted to stop at a few places along the way. Or you can google for any establishments along the way that DO welcome dogs.

But you may be more interested in feedback on traveling I90 or alternate routes. If that's the case, never mind. Someone else might be able to answer that.

Corgis and mensaguy will be able to help. We shaved several hours once we went differently than the NY/MA route.. I slept most of the way.. so I must confess the exact route doesn't come to mind!
