I agree go after the crooks.
But I have seen this kind of fraud go on for years.
Not all drug dealing either.
Often the friend has a legitimate job, just likes to freeload.
Then the welfare recipient has this under the table job.

Well, I think the whole welfare system needs to be reformed. Maybe it will be better with Obamacare but before, if a person started to work they lost their health insurance. That was a dis-incentive to work. There should also be a transition period during which they don't completely lose their benefits. Now, as far as I know, it's you work, your immediately lose your rental subsidy and have to move out and find your own place. The system should gradually get them off welfare and then keep them off but not just throw them to the dogs the minute they start working. There should be social workers working closely with them to get them into jobs and help them get stable before all benefits are taken away. Some provision for child care taken into account too.

They don't immediately lose their subsidy.
There is a gradual scale to increase their share of the rent.
Only if they make mega bucks will subsidy be lost.
