2400sqft is damn big for me atleast.

I perfer 700-900 for myself, but I split a 3300 with 5 people lol so 3300/5=650ish in Boston

I have a lot of family of Five's in my extended family and 2400 for 5 is avg. Although half of my family lives around Bridgeport/New Haven, and the others live scattered throughout Greater Boston, they all seem to have homes around 1800-3000sqft

Data I have:
-Family of Five: Merdin, CT (2000sqft)
-Family of Five: Branford, CT (2700sqft)
-Family of Six: Weston, MA (3100sqft)
-Family of Four: Guilford CT (1800sqft)
-Family of Four: Fairfield CT (1900sqft)
-Family of Five (Six Now): Canton MA (2200sqft)
-Family of Five: Westwood MA: (4800sqft)

The Boston Marathon, which had been previously postponed until September, has now been officially cancelled. While I have been critical of other cancellations for things still a ways off, this one was a no brainer. Even in a best case scenario, there is no way this area needs and influx 500k people from all over the world this fall.

I think you are representative of most families if we’re being honest.

Agreed. Though I do feel for the runners who worked so hard.

Most rational people would feel badly for the runners that were going to run, but we dont need the numerous people

THe revenue, Im sure, will be missed. BUt it is for the best, Im sure.

Family of 5 here. 2 adults and 3 kids (7,7, 2)

We have 1800sf on the main level, and a 600sf portion of finished, heated basement. We also have a 250sf 3-season insulated enclosed porch with heat that is usable other than in deep winter.

We really aren't using the basement right now. It's basically heated storage at this point. I'd say we are doing pretty well with the 1800sf we are using.

Not counted as finished space technically, but in the context of this question it is important to note. I do have a ~100sf room in the unheated portion of the basement that I am using as an office. Previously it was just storage and not counted, but given the scenario, having it as an available office is key to note.

The Big E has got to be next on the chopping block - loosing that revenue will be a huge hit for the Springfield area

My rule of thumb, heated and air conditioned finished basement, yes the square foot should be counted.
Unfinished basement: no, don't count.
Somewhere in between: gray area, depending on how "finished" is.

Using basement rule here adding up all the area, 2500 sf for family of 5 is not very large. One room or
the basement is office. I would prefer:
Family of four - 2500 sf.
Family of five - 3000 sf
