Wow....I guess at this point no closures can surprise anyone, but still sad to hear. I read that the original Cheers on Beacon St. remains.

Nope, I had never been there, but passed by often on the way to a favorire, Chipyard Cookies (I hope they survive). And Dick's Last Resort has closed also. Both tried, as they re-opened but then shuttered.

I think Cheers officially closes in a couple of weeks.

Get ready for another b. Good or Sweetgreen or the ever- ubiquitous Tatte cafe eventually moving in? Ooops, I think b. Good has already closed some shops.

Just be grateful for what we still have?

Gotta be a Pret. The nearest one is all the way behind the Old State House!

That one's gone. It's now "The Well Coffee." So it could very well be a Pret!

In all seriousness, I won't miss Cheers! But I agree that another chain isn't an improvement. Mostly I'm worried that it'll sit vacant for a long time.

The Cheers in Faneuil Hall was strictly a tourist attraction, it opened years after the show went off the air. It was modeled to look more like the TV set than the (original) Bull & Finch on Beacon Street.

I feel old for knowing any of this.

I went to another Cheers while stuck at some airport (St. Louis?) once, and wasn't much else there. Bleh.

Even the Pret by Newbury? That’s crazy. Soon we will have to go all the way to London Heathers. If chains are closing it kind of makes me wonder what will be left. Maybe Starbucks will move in.

I know some comedians that really didn't like hearing about dicks' last resort closing. Most comedy now is gradually going online. Some of the production quality is quite good I'd say.

Yep and all locations in Chicago as well. Their US sales drop by 87% but will keep the NYC, DC, and Philadelphia locations open - for now. PaM relies on a workforce lunch crowd as it's primary customer. They simply aren't there.

They closed 30 locations in the UK at the same time.
