Your trying to choose between the San Diego area and metro west? I don’t understand why people would move here from there. Your not the first person though. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Shoveling, getting kids layered up, and boredom would be enough for me to say no to that move. Also too many snobs and to expensive in MetroWest.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

COL is supposedly even more out of whack there than Boston, similar or even higher housing costs yet lower salaries. I've also heard complaints about the people out there, but that is of course very subject and everybody will have a different experience in that aspect.

Definitely don't let old memories guide you, they are never accurate.

That said, I understand the school part. MA just has really good schools.

My parents are in MA, so it’s a big draw to get some grandparent time for my kids while that’s still possible. Both places are expensive but I’ve been casually looking in SD for years and literally nothing has come up that fits our preferences and budget, but I guess you just trade weather for quality or space. We’d settle for something though if we decided on SD.

I left MA due to the Winters and COL.

My question would be that if you left, how easy would it be for you to get a new job?

Job prospects will probably going to be about the same in either SD or MA though it seems volume wise there is a lot more in MA. My (for now remote) job is in Los Angeles and it’s not a good quality of life so I’m going to need to find something else either way sooner or later if they decide they want folks back in the office. My job prospects in LA are awesome for my niche but I hate living here so oh well.

Because this would just be a clear step down in QOL. It’s not hard to see. I said this to the last period in here looking at coastal ma vs San Diego..we all did.

Ok then I guess I should say you have been consistent!

Have you spent much time living in SoCal? Which parts do you find to have the best QOL for families ?
