Or maybe one of those wannabe cops who never scored high enough on the police exam?
How come you didn't consider the possibility that I was dumped by a cop?

Jokes aside. I don't understand really people defending the privileges and even worse the corruption in the police.

So being dumped by a cop is a reason to berate everyone in that profession?

Are you comparing the fitness of a Navy Seal with the average cop?
Anyway, the skillset required is completely different, that's why you don't send Navy Seals to do police work in friendly territory.

Defend decent compensation for the demands of the job and sacrifices they make, and that's adequate to retain and attract a competent police force for our society's best interest? Sure.

Defending corruption? Much different story, and I haven't witnessed anybody here doing such. You seem to be having delusions there.

In any countries, cops are paid much less than software engineers.
However in Massachusetts the median income (not base salary) of cops are higher than software engineers'.
Not to say they don't deserve it but they are paid well already.

Decent compensation for the demands of the job? 120k+pension with 20 years of service and 55 of age?
Just this is a better deal than most jobs in Massachusetts. And a lot of cops don't really have a demanding job, I don't understand why the average cop is always the one that is around patrolling the worst neighborhood of Boston and not the one patrolling an average neighborhood in Framingham.

Do you have numbers that actually show that? It would be interesting to see, for sure.

Why does it bother you so much is the question? I am not a cop, I wont get a pension at 55 or 65 and I'm ok with that.

Laborers working at places like the IBEW get similar compensation and a pension...does that also bother you?

You think being a cop in Framingham is a simple cushy job?

I'm beginning to think that you're not necessarily bitter, but more likely just quite sheltered.

Why would I look for another thread??? We are conversing in this thread "Police overtime budget cuts", which is about proposed OT cuts to the Boston Police Department.
