The large infamous company with ship logo - is that the one you’re referring to?

Unless we're talking about one in a million individuals no one is all that much smarter than anyone else and it's all about the culture and environment. Take a black kid, raise him in a culture that values education and hard work and chances are he will be your manager's manager. On the flip side, take that allegedly smart jewish kid, raise him in a culture that glorifies thuggery and violence and chances are you'll be dropping quarters into his Dunks cup or reading about him in local police blotter.

Problem is, vast majority of elected and self-appointed black leaders want their constituents to remain the way they are because that's what keeps those votes and those sweet, sweet dollars coming...

This is total nonsense. I spent my career doing product development in metro Boston high tech. If you don’t have the aptitude, you’re going to have lousy productivity no matter how hard you work at it. You’re either born with the cognitive ability or you’re not. You need to be at a certain level to create intellectual property. You don’t get to be your manager’s manager without being competent along the way.

I agree that sometimes you’re either smart or you’re not. I know kids who have learning and behavioral issues at derby and Thayer and have for decades. Clearly their parents care about education (one even has a tutor) but money can’t buy everything.

Utter nonsense. Aptitude varies greatly in populations and among people.

Aptitude and talent are nothing if they’re not developed and nurtured, and sadly you could be born an Einstein yet die an absolute nothing in a culture where education is not valued, violence and thuggery is glorified and leaders want you as nothing but a guaranteed mindless vote and a broke, powerless victim whose aid money they can grift.

I do think it’s possible to be highly intelligent and not make good use of it due to circumstances. Most teachers I think can spot gifted students to make sure they at least attempt to get noticed.

Obviously, talented individuals can be marginalized due to deleterious circumstances. This has nothing to do with the point that aptitude and cognitive abilities vary widely among populations and peoples.

This thread has totally gone off the rails...

I looked again and surprisingly I don't have my preapproval letter despite having virtually everything else. But I'm pretty sure they were willing to lend me over half of my take home. And that was several years ago. I bet if I did it even now with the tightening I'd bet I'd get approved for at least a mill. And it's just me.

They do vary among populations but the idea that one race is inherently smarter or dumber than the other is, well, racist. It has absolutely nothing to do with race and everything to do with how the culture handles those showing higher than average intelligence and aptitude.

But as others have said this thread had gone off the rails, why don’t we get back to b*thing about expensive houses?
