The common thinking is they want immigrants because they vote democrat. But in Florida there are tons of people fleeing from Cuba and want no part of socialism.or communism. The Hispanics in Florida vote more conservative than people think.

Well most needed to wear a mask to feel safe. Some even in their cars all by themselves.

Close the borders and see if the nation folds. I'll wait.

We need people in the USA and frankly having a low birth rate, high amounts of retirements, a lack of immigration (last president mostly) and covid put a dent in the labor market.

We can't have this paradox that immigrants are lazy and yet stole someone's job. If an immigrant can come in and take your job then I question qualifications. The other part I'd question is to be frank is that visa based jobs are a minority, a very very small amount of the labor market so unless you are doing manual unskilled labor you have nothing to worry about. Now if it is outsourced that's different but then they wouldn't come here to begin with.

Businesses still process E-Verify and process I-9's, especially if they want government contracts and grants. I've seen executive directors go to job sites and ask contractors for ID's. It's perfectly legal.

This idea that somehow people are on welfare for their whole lives is false. What probably happens is they live with someone else that is providing and they are on it and some might bounce place to place. In Mass we have programs that are income based, you make more you get services cut. Can we argue about poverty traps? Sure but that's another issue.

There's a fair amount of job openings and if people honestly want to come here to have a better life and want to work I don't see what the issue is. We can debate the process of that and vetting. Obviously we do background checks and health screenings etc.

Now maybe the issue is more of higher populated areas. There's plenty of space in western mass and eastern ct. I pass by empty houses and commercial buildings all the time. In fact there's a town meeting where I am about housing on thursday.

Sure but do we solve the low birth/high retirement issue by bringing in everyone else’s unskilled, uneducated underclass and adding them to our already overflowing welfare rolls while bleeding the taxpayers dry, or do we perhaps relax the current draconian laws that make it next to impossible to get in unless you’re a part of the asylum jefe, asylum crowd and bring in those who can actually support themselves and make a positive contribution, with that contribution being something other than “boosting diversity” or a vote purchased using those sweet taxpayer dollars.

This ^^

Already in this country you've got your rich and your poor. The middle class is disappearing and isn't that one of the reasons people leave these countries in the first place?

Wait, so are you now saying there’s a difference between an average asylum jefe, asylum illegal and a green card holder who works at google?
Quite a few of those minimum wage jobs in the Boston market are paying 20-25/hr. You take two people and four p/t gigs and you have a start.
Folks at Google are seldom in Green Cards - H1/L1 leashes work better.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of higher skill jobs that have left the country like coding jobs because again there are people who can do the same job someplace where they're happy to accept a much lower wage than their American counterparts. Call centers are another great example of jobs that have left the country.

I really feel for all of these folks who are scraping by because their jobs/industries have left our shores. They're looking for someone to blame for their problems and there are plenty of politicians including that orange clown who recently left the white house who are happy to leverage that through fear mongering to garner support.
You mean the "orange clown" that kept our gas & fuel prices low, no inflation, secure borders, affordable mortgage rates, etc.? That clown?
Why do you find pleasure making fun of someone's skin color? Yet, you voted for a man that shuffles around like an infant and poops in his pants. Heck, he couldn't even shuffle to the Queen's funeral on time! The hypocrisy is astonishing!
