WFH does change things... but we'll see how long that lasts.
LoL what do you have against Shrewsbury? The median home price is 635k. They have good schools and nice homes, people obviously like to live there.

Wait so you're dissing Shrewsbury but don't have a problem with New Hampshire? LoL. Who wants to live in NH?

That poster has a bizarre belief that everyone should have to commute into Boston/Cambridge for some unknown reason.

Lots of people want to live in NH. I wouldn't mind living in NH myself. Less crowded roads for the most part (minus the MA spillover at the border towns). Larger lots...more greenspace, beautiful coastline and mountains too.

But by his argument, Shrewsbury is not commutable but New Hampshire is? LoL.

I would think Shrewsbury is going to be a better commute to the city vs Nashua? He thinks everyone has to go into the city to find work but most likely whoever bought that condo in Nashua isn't commuting into Boston/Cambridge every day. Nor is everyone who buys in Shrewsbury.

Every suburb in eastern Massachusetts is commutable to some range of communities with jobs centers. Those ranges are slightly different depending on the location of the targeted town. Judging commutability using Boston as a default destination is not really relevant these days with the combination of suburban jobs, hybrid schedules and WFH.

Boston has never, ever been the only place to work in Massachusetts. My grandmother was born and raised in Woburn during the WWI era and she described to me the companies that would employ people in Woburn back in the 1910s, 1920s & 1930s. Apparently tannery factories were plentiful in the area of Woburn that is present day I-93 but other nearby locations were large job centers too like Lowell and Lawrence. To act like Boston is the only place in Massachusetts to find a job is so nonsensical to me.

There are plenty of tech jobs along the Lowell/Chelmsford area. I know because I had one in Lowell, and commuted up from Arlington. An easy commute.
