The previous owner of my home sold the house because the husband lost his job here and found a job in another state.
I heard from neighbors that he passed away just one year after the move.

$425K for this little shack in Peabody on a busy rd and nextdoor to a triple decker. That's got to be one of the ugliest exteriors I've seen. https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...=srp-list-card

Ugh that is ugly. From the outside it looks like it should be a store or something

It really depends on where you work. Job in Canton, Braintree, Weymouth, Dedham, Stoughton or anywhere along 128 south of the Pike and a town like Norfolk could make sense in the same way a town like Westford could work for someone with a job in Burlington, Woburn, northern parts of Waltham, etc.

Except when they do. I think the incorrect assumption is that commute > everything else when it comes to picking a town. Some people who work in or north of Boston may well continue to look to live south despite the commute because of other factors, such as family. If someone grew up in a Medfield/Norfolk/Walpole and still has friends and family in that area, it can be a strong incentive to live there despite working in a Burlington or Cambridge or even Andover.

Anecdotally, I know someone in tech who wanted a larger house for less money and bought in Norfolk.

Isn't that exactly what I said?

These people are going to be real outliers though. I never met anybody from Norfolk, Franklin, Medway, Walpole, Wrentham, Medfield, etc. who commutes to Burlington or anywhere up there. And I have a pretty large sample size.

Why is anything, lol. Mentioning WFH does seem to get people fired up around here, in case you haven't noticed.

I think I was just not sure what you were debating in the first place. The comment you replied to was noting that people moved to all sorts of places to WFH, not just the Cape, Newport, and NH. No reason to think that Norfolk is any different.

So yeah, I guess ultimately we both agree? If I worked in Burlington I doubt I'd be looking in the southwest region of Norfolk County. But plenty of people did target towns like Norfolk, Wrentham, Foxborough, and Medway as a WFH town where they can get more land/house for a bit less.
