umm... I just love to hide behind the computer... and be Superman...or Batman... or a stud.

Is that why Internet porn is so popular? Why don't we have the courage to go to a strip club or a brothel? Are we shy? or lack social skills?

I moved from the UK to Boston 1 year ago, came over single and lonely. And I met many fantastic women in that time and recently (via internet dating, because I moved to a new area and didn't know anyone here) I met a great girl and we've been together since. I disagree, it is much better being single here than it was in the UK.

RLCMA,
you are bringing out the old matchmaker in me! You seem so frustrated, with your last few posts!
I am curious: Why do YOU think you are unlucky in love?
Money, looks, prowess (I'll leave that open to interpretation), education, personality, prevailing local attitudes?
Is it possible, R, that your frustration with the dating scene "eeks out" into your demeanor when you are in a social setting? Have you become cynical, and this, in turn, turns off potential females?
Just something to think about...

I just posted an observation. I don't know where you get off asking me if I lack in these ridiculous categories you obviously think make up a person in their entirety. Instead of trying to play Dr. Phil why don't you just focus on the post rather than pointing the finger at me.

You came out and posted an angry observation about half the population of the place all of us happen to live. People are reacting to it and trying to discuss it with you and you are bristling at that. Not fair.

I don't think RLCMA and I can agree that neither of us is all that comfortable turning on "potential" females!

My bad, RLCMA.
But your testy response says it all.

Lorilou,

Your ridiculous comment says it all. Typical MA girl I'm sure.

If I recall correctly, Lorilou moved to MA only in the last year or two and grew up somewhere else. Also married with kids and never part of the MA dating scene.

We all know that, no matter where you live, it can be difficult and infuriating to go through all kinds of crap in the hopes of finding someone you can hit it off with. It is not meant to insult you or start fights with you when people try to suggest that maybe your frustration, no matter how warranted, is causing you to be testy, which can only make it worse. I have been in that situation and I know how easy it is to get mad at the whole thing, but I've found it only worked out when I either managed to suspend disbelief and cultivate an optimistic attitude about my chances of meeting a nice person, or by taking a break from it all and focusing on making myself happier with my life in other respects. Just the perspective of someone who has been there.

Holden,
thank you.
You are correct on both counts. I am not typical; I am not originally from MA.
I wasn't trying to insult him, but...whatever.
