Thanks again for the information, I actually looked up apartment complexes on apartmentratings that I have lived in, they were nice enough for me and scored ~60%. Im sure the apartments that get like 0% with 50 reviews *are* bad... but I suspect more and more that if its >50% its probably okay.

I intend to visit a couple days and tour about 6-8. Visit them once in the day, and of those I'm still interested in, visit them late at night... Then decide next day. Probably do a short lease too.

NCState's basketball is going to be rough this year (as usual), we have to celebrate the victories we do get!

By the way, I love BBQ and hot wings, what are the local favorites (if you are ever in Raleigh, Sammy's and Lynwood Grill are the places to go for hot wings)? I want to try one when I'm visiting!

You have a great idea, going to the complexes at night and driving around. Some may be gated, but believe me - that never keeps anyone out. Every gated community I've lived in or visited, either the gates are broken, left wide open, or people simply tailgate in after another car.

For BBQ - Central BBQ and BBQ Shop are in midtown. Germantown has the Germantown Commissary, which I hear only great things about. The most famous are Interstate and Neely's, run by the Neely family. Interstate is in a rather bad area, so go during the day. Neely's has a restaurant near downtown on Jefferson. Rendezvous is famous, but many locals think it's a tourist trap. I personally dislike the place, over priced and the food is mediocre. And, it's a tourist trap

Neely's also has a restaurant in Fox Meadows on Mt Moriah near Clarke Rd. Rendezvous is disgusting!

I agree Rendezvous is very overrated and overpriced.
