BCreass,

You make very good accurate points; This coming from a long time Miami resident who also is looking to move within the next couple of years.

You mentioned that you have been here for 5 years. Where did you live before?

They place was exclusively for senior, very senior Jews, but the beach and the pier were fun.
We used to smoke reefers and fish sharks during the wee hours of the night.
No, I don't know that specific Mall.
I used to go a lot to OMNI.
I left the city in 1980, really, the riot, I was a witness of the whole thing, and then Mariel, no more.
I moved to Boca, and then returned to Barcelona in 1983.

Hey Man, if you are not Cuban, you seem to know a lot about the island and its people. Are you another gallego in love with a cuban morenita?;

Jaja...
No way..
We are "returnees".
My parents were Spanish immigrants in Cuba and they returned to Spain in 1956-57.
They wanted to return, but the island went under in 1959.
A large part of the family stayed behind, some went back to Spain, some to Miami, some became "Nomenklatura" and are still there.
The latter ones are the ones that live better.
Yes, "gallegos" love "petróleo".

Hey you are almost in the same position as I am, except that my fathers never returned back to Ourense, Galicia; I cant blame them, after all Varadero is like a place out of Cuba.

Don't like the place.
Are you from there?

You all need to take a chill pill. RELAX, you make Miami sound like its Iraq. I have lived here for several years now and I have never been robbed, assaulted, or been the witness of any crime other than traffic violations.
For the most part Miami is like every other Metro in America. Miami has its good areas and bad areas. As long as you stay in the good areas and dont wander off course into the ghettos you will be fine (I dont see why you would visit Liberty City unless you live there) I feel no less safer here than I would in LA, DC, New York, and Chicago. As long as you stay out of the crime ridden areas of South Florida then you will probably have the same safe experiences I have had here for several years now.

I feel Miami is pretty safe for the average citizen because crime here seems to be restrained to the bad areas (with a rare violent crime taking place in the good areas). This year, however, has been a little weird with all these unexplained suicidal shootings in good neighborhoods. These incidents, while have made us look bad, are really isolated incidents and thus next year we will go back to a normal national average crime rate.

The thing that bothers me the most about Miami (other than the huge barrios and Port-au-Price style ghettos) is that there are so many people who live in the good areas who do not speak English. And if they do speak English, it is very little, or they choose to speak their native tongue.

Go to Miracle Mile, a supposedly 'classy place' and all you hear is Spanish jabber in the bars, restautants, and bookstores. I have no respect for the credit card rich immigrants who come here, benefit from our country, but refuse to speak English. Like Miami is some kind of paradise where you can get rich and not have to learn or speak English.

Rich Hispanics are are laughing their way to the bank while white, non-Spanish speaking people find it difficult to get jobs, make friends, or make business connections. Coral Gables is off the map for me. Multiculturism in Miami is the biggest drain on the ctiy's remaining class.

WOW Liberty city had yet ANOTHER mass shooting this sunday. Five were shot in a drive-by. When will enough be enough? Liberty city doesn't even have a large population yet I'm hearing about the neighborhood in the news more and more lately.
