Thank you for this post, even if it is an old one. Makes me feel better about this morning's commute which wasn't bad until I had to get to my exit. I totally agree about the left lane being for passers. I normally take 94 to 45 to get from Waukesha to Men Falls every day and, when I can, I move over to the left lane to take that 45 exit. But, I stay as close to the person in front of me as possible, at a safe distance, even if that means speeding a little, and I've never had a problem during rush hour. If it's any other time I only use the left lane to pass and move over as soon as I see another car approaching behind me (when it's safe to do so). In Milwaukee county, I never see anyone getting pulled over on the left-hand side for speeding, especially during rush hour.

However, in Waukesha recently, I had just gotten off the ramp onto 94 to go to Milwaukee, on a Saturday, and a cop did pull over an SUV going 72 in a 65 in the left lane. Apparently, Waukesha County must need the money.

In my experience, it's always been the drivers from the suburbs that cause the most headache. This morning, I was on 45 in the Falls and had to move from the center to the right lane to catch my exit, so I put my blinker on and merged in front of a car that was probably 10 feet back (not sure, but there was enough room). This jerk then goes around me and cuts me off right before my exit because I had the audacity to pass him, causing me to slam on my breaks in the snow! Not sure if he was a suburbanite, but I would assume so, since they all feel entitled to go whatever speed they want (usually under the limit on a 2-lane road or tailgating you) and don't let you into their lane before an exit. I so can't wait to move into Milwaukee County (hopefully by the summer).

Since starting my new job over a year ago my new gripe is people going about 30 in a 45mph zone on Bluemound in Brookfield....I just don't get it, it's like people are scared of going the actual speed limit there.
