Yeah, people are insane. If they fall through, then the people trying to rescue them are at risk. You couldn't pay me to even walk on the ice right now. I'm not sure about up by Cambridge, but here in the Metro many ponds and lakes are open water along the shore, so you can't even get onto the ice anymore.

They're still frozen across up here for the most part, but we've had a lot of sunny days with temps well above freezing the past month or so. It's been a MUCH milder winter than the last 2 especially. You can see the melt and break lines on the ice in so many spots. Walking out onto it is one thing right now, but driving a vehicle out there? You gotta be half nuts.

Whenever I see one of those big fancy rigs through the ice, my thoughts are have fun making payments on that thing for another however many years now that it's just a big wet paperweight (if they can even get it back after it sinks to the bottom)

You pay daily until it’s pulled up. Now your vehicle doubled your cost, what a great deal

Yesterday was some of the weirdest weather I've ever seen.

In Northfield, we had five separate snow-squalls - heavy snow (and graupel), winds, low visibility - and every time, within half an hour the clouds parted and there were blue skies and sunshine.

I've never seen a sustained back-and-forth like that before. Very odd.

Same here in Roseville. The whole state had small cells all over and moving fast.

Maybe it's just poor memory but I used to think it rarely snowed in April. Whenever it did, I would think of the Prince song.

It seems like quite a few of the last number of Aprils it has snowed.

Does anyone have stats on how often it snows in the Twin Cities?

It appears that today will be "Winter's last blast"....last day of "Winter", if you will. Let's hope, as we wake up to an almost-record 18 degrees this morning in the Twin Cities.
