Throw in the hurricanes, tornadoes, sinkholes, cockroaches, giant man eating lizards, rampant crime, etc. and it gets even less appealing. Fun place to visit and hang out on some nice beaches, but as for living there - pass.

I consider the "bad" months in MN to be New Years through the end of April. I like the cold and snow during the holidays, same as you, but after that it's a long, brutal haul. Biggest problem is that by mid March or so I am totally beat down and then those late season winter storms keep barreling through. Really demoralizing and depressing.

We want to move to and eventually "retire" in Arkansas within the next 4 to 5 years....either to the NW part of the state where the U of A and Wal-Mart headquarters are or to the Hot Springs area further south. We vacationed in those areas when we lived in Texas and have wanted to live there ever since, but wound up here for other reasons first. Arkansas provides the mountain settings we've always craved and of course much milder winters. The humidity there can get bad too, but nothing like Florida or where I used to live in SE Texas. The spots we like still have 4 seasons, but without all the serious cold and snow.

Who knows, we may end up just staying here. Minnesota has been good to us, but I just can't see my wife and I dealing with the winters into old age.
I'm thinking 2-4 horrible months here, closer to 6-8 horrible months down there. The snow/salt/mud sucks, but it's all relative.

It could be worse...we could be in Winnipeg. I have been there in the middle of Winter. Literally -60 when my hockey team were up there. It was shocking even to me, even though been in MN my whole life.

The 14 day outlook is awesome, 60’s on Sunday and many days in 50’s with lows above 32.

Bye bye, snow! (Followed by a blizzard in a couple weeks most likely).

Seems like every Saturday and Sunday every week for the last two months have been the best two days of every week.

We went for a nice walk at one of the remote parks up here yesterday. Sun was glorious and a most of the snow was gone. Lakes still frozen over for the most part, but couldn't believe people are still driving cars and trucks onto that ice as warm and sunny as it's been. Not me, man.
