That is strange because I felt like it was out more this year than last.

Woke up to 43 degrees and get this - the SUN - this morning!

Break out the shorts & flip flops!

No extreme cold or snow in the extended forecast. So far I'm getting my wish of a much milder winter in comparison to the last 2. Keep it up, Mama Nature!

I put my roof cables on and it dang near melted all the snow off my roof just yesterday alone. Very unseasonable, it was. Now back to reality for a few more weeks...

Quick question for those who'd like to answer. How many "bad" koppresively hot and humid) months do you think FL deals with? How many "bad" months (cold and dark) does MN have?

I've thought about moving to FL but I don't think I'd like hot+humid all the time.

My stance is that in MN is bad in Jan and Feb - 2 months of the year.

December has the ambiance of Christmas and isn't too bad imo. March is the snowiest month(I belueve) but it's not too bad.

If FL is oppressiv hot 6 months out of the year (running from house to car to building for AC) not mention hurricanes, I don't know that I'd want to live in that.

Sounds like you answered your own question in regards to Florida. Basically, it's the most oppressively humid place you can live in the U.S., so if you already know that's not your cup of tea it would be unwise to even consider it. Throw in the hurricanes, tornadoes, sinkholes, cockroaches, giant man eating lizards, rampant crime, etc. and it gets even less appealing. Fun place to visit and hang out on some nice beaches, but as for living there - pass.

I consider the "bad" months in MN to be New Years through the end of April. I like the cold and snow during the holidays, same as you, but after that it's a long, brutal haul. Biggest problem is that by mid March or so I am totally beat down and then those late season winter storms keep barreling through. Really demoralizing and depressing.

We want to move to and eventually "retire" in Arkansas within the next 4 to 5 years....either to the NW part of the state where the U of A and Wal-Mart headquarters are or to the Hot Springs area further south. We vacationed in those areas when we lived in Texas and have wanted to live there ever since, but wound up here for other reasons first. Arkansas provides the mountain settings we've always craved and of course much milder winters. The humidity there can get bad too, but nothing like Florida or where I used to live in SE Texas. The spots we like still have 4 seasons, but without all the serious cold and snow.

Who knows, we may end up just staying here. Minnesota has been good to us, but I just can't see my wife and I dealing with the winters into old age.

Hearing some in the Mankato area received as much as 15 inches from this latest system. Thank goodness we only got an inch or so up here. Nice to be on the better side of a storm for a change.

We had to go to St. Paul and back this morning.....the snow and freezing fog overnight made for a spectacular winter wonderland. Trees all covered in white.....very impressive! Pulled over and tried to get a couple pics but they did not do it justice. Not a fan of winter, but if the roads are ok and I don't have to shovel I don't mind seeing such a beautiful scene.
