Going down to visit soon. We are a laid back couple but love to shop and hang with friends (game nights, drinking beer, trying cheeses, etc) and I value relationships.

What town(s) in your opinion are best in MS along the coast? What town's housing (buying) is best above I-10?

And finally what town should I spend the most time in to get a feel for the area?
Thanks!

Bay St. Louis and Ocean Springs.

For above I-10, Diamondhead as far as ritzy neighborhood goes. Most others are OK too, just typical rural towns on the outskirts.

Pass Christian and Long Beach are cool little towns. Great schools. Walkable downtowns and proximity to the beach.

Ocean Springs is probably the most quaint and historic town on the Mississippi coast and much more laid back than Biloxi or Gulfport. Bay St. Louis is okay but feels more run down than Ocean Springs.

Ocean Springs is just across the bridge from Biloxi's main casino area but feels a world apart. One of my favorite small towns on the Gulf coast. I'm from Louisiana but visit at least once a year.

Ocean Springs feels polished and picturesque. Pass Christian is elegant, lined with historic mansions, lush green lawns, and white fences along the beachfront.

Bay St. Louis is blessed with an elevated position overlooking the bay right where it meets the gulf and a lively downtown on the water.

Waveland steals my heart because of its lovely homes perched on stilts and large lots overlooking the beach (all new since Katrina), and the quaint beachside road at the far end of the coast. It reminds me of a place where you would have gone to the beach with the parents and grandparents back in at late 60s in a good way.'

Gulfport has an authentic and revitalized downtown, now with brand-new aquarium, and Biloxi is the place for bustling casinos and booming restaurants with porches and balconies full of people enjoying the coastal atmosphere.
