But, I'm no expert by any means.
It will be interesting because JKA will eat into PNS more than MOB/BFM. JKA's catchment area is much more closely aligned with the Alabama beach side of PNS' current catchment area than BFM's future catchment area.

Exciting times for BFM and JKA... each airport has been a long time coming, and certainly you can feel the positive momentum for both. I wonder if JKA will be debt-free like BFM?

Indeed, exciting times . I’m not sure about JKA being debt free but I doubt it

Will its new function be as an executive airport - for small private planes for the most part? There's a successful executive airport here that has a contractor on site that does Black Hawk helicopter work. They even had commuter passenger service to Nashville for a short time that apparently didn't work out.

There is a Coast Guard base at MOB that will stay. There are private aviation hangars and Airbus has a small maintenance facility there as well, so MOB will continue to fully function as an airport.

Plans have been finalized for the enclosure of Rabby Creek, on the site of the future downtown airport terminal. This is the first major civil work step needed to get the terminal and its accessways underway.

The terminal design contract has been approved. At or before 30% design completion, there will be 3 design options up for selection. The design should be complete by January 2023.

The terminal itself looks pretty good, although I would go with some architectural references to Mardi Gras and local culture. I wonder if there will be a consolidated car rental facility nearby. Also, the Michigan Avenue/I-10 interchange needs to be overhauled.
