-Boykin Tower has/had 122 units ("98 one bedrooms, 12 one-bedroom handicapped units, and 13 two-bedrooms.")

These demolitions all started in 2022 according to Mobile Housing Board. That is just under 3,000 bedrooms. A modest 1.5 people per bedroom would take that to 4,500 easily.
Huh….. I’ll be damned… that would certainly add up then if it’s that many housing unit being destroyed

Those developments are being completely decommissioned. Redevelopments are to follow.

A quick look at the document you shared, it looks like they are just gonna hammer into the voucher system throughout the county (wish they could expand into Baldwin County) and turn the remaining large HUD into mixed income facilities, am I reading that correctly?

Looks like that to me, redevelopment at Orange Grove is incomplete 10+ years later. Years ago a developer tried to partner with them to redevelop one of their properties but the Housing Board shot that down, sadly. In 2015 they were touting a $750M overhaul of RV & Birdsville, yet 8 years later nothing. I lack confidence in Mobile Housing Board, they obviously need an overhaul.

Orange Grove is below the new revised federal floodplain so I do not think further development is possible there.

Wow… Mobile is really blossoming, Mobile County added 2,400 people to its workforce between April 2022-2023. For reference Mobile County add only added 3,400 people to its workforce from 2013-2020. Mobile County had the second highest workforce growth behind only Madison County (Baldwin County added (1,900 workers)

Mobile County also had the second highest gains in jobs; Mobile County added 4,900. Compared to the entirety of the Birmingham metro that added a total of 5,600 jobs. Mobile-Baldwin added a total of 7,600 jobs behind only the Huntsville metro which added 8,600 jobs
