Is there anyone that can read that article on al.com about why William Carroll wants to expand the CBD? How will that provide more opportunities for housing to be renovated and built?

Yea I’ve been trying to figure that out too, it’s seem pretty vague and excessively large. From what I read it mostly inhabits residential. which shouldn’t be in a CBD, the city should have two CBD’s at most, Downtown and the Beltline from Mcgregor ave to Bel Air mall on Airport down to Government Blvd (encompassing McGowin Park)

Okay rereading the article it will encompass all of Mobile inside of I-65 and I-10, which seems excessive. This is all for the Downtown Development Authority. Which having the DDA over Beltline is rather odd to me

Violent Crime is down 14% throughout the city so far this year

https://lagniappemobile.com/crime-co...KhelwjzkWKHLao

if the City can remain on course this would bring the per capita violent crime rate to roughly 6.0/1000 instead of the 7.1/1000 we are currently sitting at, though we still have a ways to go, average violent crime rate in the post-Great Recession is roughly 6.2/1000 and pre-Great Recession was about 4.5/1000

if the city can get to 4.5/1000 we'd be in great shape

Nah none of the models are going back west toward Mobile, even the bad ones, so for right now, we seems to be in the clear

120 Acres of Prime real Estate just went up for sale in the Port Area with deep water access. Alabama Shipyard is selling 120 acres of land they don’t need anymore. Hopefully and I imagine, a company is gonna snatch that land up real quick and develop. Curious if the Port Authority is gonna be interested in buying it, it would be a great place to expand our container terminal to both sides of the river

Or just public waterfront access.
