X-Men: Dark Phoenix it wasn't horrible and was torpedoed by studio meddling before Disney officially owned Fox. Just showed another reason why Fox need to be bought by Disney or Universal in the first place. Dark Phoenix was damn near a replay of the Josh Trank Fantastic Four. I really loved that one until the time jump myself.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was another example of a movie not earning its moment. The whole Dark Phoenix Saga really only works as the culmination of a long history of Jean Grey. You have to love her before you weep for her. The movie expected us to weep for someone we barely knew.

The X-Men are one of those comic book epics --- along with Batman and Spider-Man --- where to do it right, you really need a TV show, not a movie. You cannot adequately cover these rich stories and characters in a two hour movie.

I agree that it was rushed into and we still haven't had a true Phoenix movie. We had elements of it especially in Dark Phoenix, but we haven't gotten it. Last Stand was Jean Grey as Phoenix in name only. It is an epic that should end X-Men like Endgame did for the first crew of Avengers. That said, Fox has shown they can barely make three movies in an X-Men run without people saying one sucked... And people wonder why I said give it to Disney...

As for another movie, my favorite off the year, Knives Out. I think due to it being rated R and being a Rian Johnson project after The Last Jedi it didn't perform like it should have. That movie is amazing though with turns all over and turns that make sense.

I'm really looking forward to seeing it on DVD. It didn't strike me as something I need to see on the big screen.

I love movies, but as I get older I am increasingly intolerant of movie audiences. I have to REALLY want to see a movie to go the theater these days. Otherwise, I'll wait for the DVD.
