After looking for homes in the Naples/Bonita Springs area we started to hear about home owners insurance costing $10,000-$15,000 per year. Does living east or west of I75 change that cost much. How can people afford that plus HOA's, taxes and health care costs? We have been looking at homes below $350,000 and a min of 2000 sqft. And want to make sure we can afford to live there on a fix income - with no big surprises after we sign the papers. Any input on reality would be nice.

I don't think that is accurate. We just bought a house in the $500k range. It was east of I-75 in Naples and our insurance is just under $2K. I think the right lender will find you the right quote.

We are west of 41 in a 2000+ foot condo that was less than $350,00 and our insurance is less than $2,000 and that is including flood insurance. We do have a high deductible.
And there are always surprises--our community is doing new driveways and there will be an assessment for about 3-5K that we didn't know about when we bought...
Good luck.

Is that taxes, insurance, wind and flood? What is the range of your home value?

The newer the home the less the insurance will cost you, as the new builds have to meet the new codes. I live in 34105 in a 2600 sq ft pool home, which was built 2 years ago. I pay $1600 on my home insurance. I have also just sold a brand new single family pool home in Bonita Springs within a community it has 2200 sq ft and her insurance is $1300. In regards to hurricane that all depends on your insurance deductible both these ones I have told you about have a 2% deductible.
Flood insurance depends on where you buy, some homes don't require flood insurance. You can check out the flood maps to see if a potential home is within the flood zones.
Good Luck
