I think a lot of it is misguided resentment towards our governments policy (or lack of) regarding illegal immigration. That doesn't add validity to some of the comments but that is my guess where it stems from.

I think it's absurd that in 2008 a country like the US could have 10-15 million people living in its borders and not know a damn thing about them. Not all of them are here just for work.

Stupid Nebraska is trying to make laws allowing for local law enforcement agencies to enforce the rules of the federal government for immigration. I don't remember the specific group that argued against it last week but trying to round up and deport people without federal money would be very expensive. It would also take up too much time from officers having to handle actual crime.

I think what they need to do is give everyone here now who is illegal instant citizenship. That's the best way to find out who is here and to get them legal and paying taxes. Trying to divide up families and deport people is just useless.

After that then we can start looking at enforcing the laws we have already. I think one thing we should do is have people that want to come here that don't have a job or aren't coming for academic reasons is to have them enlisted in the Army for 2 years. That way they can learn English and will actually be doing more for the country than some natural borns do.

Illegals are almost everywhere in Nebraska and the same with other..
States with farm/beef & poultry industry.
I used to live in Lexington,Neb before the illegals moved by the thousands.
The aftermath was gangs,run-down houses, murder all in a small town...
That used to be fairly quiet.

Instead of saying it's illegals doing all of the crime why not say that it's the uneducated and unemployed doing crime. That is more an indicator of crime than immigration status. If they are going to be here with us any ways the ebst thing to do is make them as educated and employed as the rest of us. Hounding them and forcing them to live in secret and out of the public eye isn't going to solve the byproducts of crime. If they are at least allowed to work and be documented that will help to establish some record on them and their families instead of people getting by cheap and paying them cash under the table keeping them untracable to the government and law enforcement.

What other areas are doing is making it illegal to hire illegal immigrants. Random samples of businesses are taken from the license files, and they are investigated to ensure that all of the employees have legal SSNs. If they do not, the company is fined and are given three months to correct their scales. Because businesses must turn in their tax returns to get their business licenses - their fees are based on their income - they must have an accurate accounting of their employees, SS payments, etc. Businesses who still have illegals employed after the three months have their licenses revoked and are shut down by the PD or sheriff's department. This results in a mass exodus of illegals from the area.

The operative words here are "natural born." Illegals should have NO rights. We should chase them right back where they came from!

Great idea. Not!

You're not doing anything to fix the problem. You're just pushing if off on someone else. You anti-amnesty people don't realize the cost legal issues of deporting illegals is more than the "trouble" they cause.

Do you know how much the economy of small towns would collapse if you just up and got rid of every illegal? Like it or not they are the few people actually moving to those areas, working, and spending money. You're basically cutting off one of the last life lines for small town America.
