I've referred people to Twin Ponds (right of Spit Brook Road, Nashua) many times, and it's a great place for people with pets. It's very rare to find a place as pet-friendly as this. There are multiple fenced areas for dogs to be off leash, but a common complaint is that not everybody picks up after their dogs... I believe the maximum number of dogs per unit is 4 (but I've known people who have lived with more than double that number--easier to do when most of your dogs are the same breed/color, and everybody doesn't get walked at one time)

I love dogs and have owned several over the years. But the reason that a landlord should not allow dogs is simple--DAMAGE. Probably the majority of people would be caring about the apt and clean up after their pets. But there are too many who just do NOT care and the net result is MAJOR damage to the apartment. Carpets need to be replaced, wood floors soaked in urine and dog mess, kitchen floor permanently stained, scratch marks into the back of each door, and sometimes even worse. AND would those who own pets be willing to put up escrow to cover potential damage---NO. And would those pet owners who have pets who did major damage pay up for the damage--NO. Cleaning carpeting in an apt can easily be $300 to $500. Replacing would be closer to $3000. Replacing a kitchen/bathroom floor $1000 to $3000. Repairing backs of doors $1000 to $1500. Normal escrow withheld will not come close to covering the potential damage that will be caused by a pet owner who just does not care. If I was renting, I would want at least an additional $300 a month to cover just the dog, in addition to 3 months escrow ---to cover damage and risk. Unfortunately those good people are affected.

My wife and I had the same problem...

We ended up finding a realtor who allowed us to rent one of her properties. Not cheap though!
