Having a rather recent history of slavery on your own turf will do that to you. It's so easy for Europeans (for example, commonly) to judge from their little flats in cities and countries that didn't have plantations and other slave labor common areas with African slaves living on them, right there in their country. They had little island colonies far away in the Caribbean that served pure economic purposes and then gave them up or lost them, and effectively gave up or lost the racial problems and tensions that existed in those islands, too. If they still retain control of the now slavery-less islands, it's still not the same as having slaves within the borders of your mainland.

You can't go to France or England today, or many countries, and find lasting, preserved plantations with slave quarters where people lived as slaves not even 200 years ago. It's a totally different culture and environment and it caused us lasting racial issues.

The truth must be a really scary thing for you, that's why they have this thing called PC, so people like yourself can live in a state of make belief.
You obviously do not know politics or sarcasm either... You are the one trying to seperate people based on ethnicity. I abhor "Political Correctness" a very Marxist/Stalinist concept, if I am not mistaken the term came from Chariman Mao's China

I DO NOT think you are a racist. I was making the point that stormfront forums have discussions about the "whiteness" of various groups, using similar arguments as you.

As for the original posting, lets look at another (sort of) Carribean nation: The vast majority of Bahamians are "black"... Like black people in the US most are mixed African and European, but there is some white Bahamians maybe 5% of the total population, descendants of British and American Loyalists. Using your logic those people would not be white

Europe was NEVER homogenous, it was centerstage of the bloodiest wars in history, those who defended their nationality, heritage and ancestry. young man, read up on the Roman Empire up to World War II, where so called "whites" killed other "whites" for not being "white" enough. homogenization was never successful and to this day, the "European Union" is an utter failure. No, the Germans don't care to be taxed for some "others" like the Greeks and Italians.

You are so brainwashed. next..
Test results have come in.. you have a case of "sh*t for brains." Bolshevik quasi communist/socialist agenda? Give me a break! Europe is culturally diverse but for the longest time was racially homogenous. You have zero case for me being communist, btw. Spewing insane dribble.

interesting about the bahamians. this is the beginning of the tenth paragraph:

"The first was an Act in 1756 whose purpose was to define who was a “white†Bahamian and who was a person of colour. According to this law, only those persons who were “above Three Degrees removed in a lineal descent from the Negro Ancestor†could be called white...."

Please. Don

I'm Cuban and white (and white enough that yesterday I had to argue with someone who insisted I was lying about being Cuban) and I never thought of being Hispanic and white as separate things, it never came to question until I was in high school. I always felt I had cultural similarities with dark skinned Mexicans for example, particularly in language, but never a racial thing. I look at it as simple as this: what do you look like, not what you speak or what your ancestors spoke.

Americans are really good at two things; confusing national origin with race (yet they wouldn't do it with Europeans. They would not lump a white and black French person together as a race but they would a Hispanic) and two, making race a huge deal, bigger than it should be.
My sister looks white I look more Mestizo. It can't be as simple as you how you look. If that were the case my sister and me would be of two different races when we are not.

Now about us Puerto Ricans being "white"... Despite your "racial" background in Puerto Rico, when you realize by observation, study and experience, let alone are a descendant of the island, it's predominantly an Afro/"black" culture. From salsa ("Latin" jazz), the daughter of Bomba, and reggae/reggae-ton, and I mean the authentic true to the roots reggae-ton (early 90's), to the many many Lukumi (language of the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria) words we use today simply misunderstood as "Spanish" because of the accent, to our Mofongo, and creole rice and beans, and our frituras (fritters), our guanimos (boiled dumplings) with salted codfish stew, to religions/ways of life (Santeria and Rastafarian), to an old early to mid 1900's saying that goes, "Y tu abuela, donde 'ta?" Or in english, "and your grandmother, where is she?". This response is referring to any Puerto Rican that denies their African/Black roots in anyway. In other words, "You may LOOK white, but I'll bet your grandmother is black". Even our American history is strongly African/Black! When our people (The Young Lords) fought for our rights, side by side with the Panthers in the 70's. And how more than any other Spanish speaking culture I've experienced, there are many New Yoricans that cook soul food. We have helped, since the beginning, start Hip Hop music and dance. And I can go on and on about how no matter your appearance, culturally, your probably more African/Black than they want you to know! It's just unfortunate how there are more Puerto Ricans that don't care than the few that woke up and do care...
