yeah but native americans who have mixed in or not with whites don't consider themselves white. the vast majority of puerto ricans are mixed. i don't think most of you posting here have really experienced puerto rican culture, either by living there or as a tourist. 90% are mixed within context of it's history as an invaded and occupied territory. puerto rico is similar to indonesia, and the phillipines.. in many ways, people of those nationalities have difficulty defining themselves within today's classifications. in asia, phillipinos are a mix of polynesian, spanish/portuguese, and chinese. as to what you'd classify them, they're phillipinos.. reason there is no specific classification for puerto ricans and phillipinos is their small relative populace within broad categorizations.
I've been to Puerto Rico a few times, and have met a lot of them here in NYC.
Like I said, many are of European descent (just like many Americans are of European descent); some are not.

according to your logic, then Indonesia and Philippines are white too, because Spain and Portugal colonized and mixed into their culture.
Also, though Puerto Ricans have some Spanish European heritage.. Spanish are not considered "white" in many cases, as many in South Spain are mixed Moors.. Ironically, the Moors who inhabited Spain, South Italy.. Guess who the Moors were? They were mixed Arabs.... Arabs aren't considered white. Northern Europeans do not consider most people of the Iberian Peninsula to be white.. Spain is a mixed culture.. for them to have mixed again in Puerto Rico, is 2nd derivative mixed.. a really mixed up nationality..
also, US is White Anglo Saxon, German, and Scot-Irish stock.. totally different origin than Porto ricans.
And Jennifer Lopez isn't white.

also depends on who you speak to.. wasps and germans don't consider spaniards to be white. i know a spanish man/german woman relationship that needed to relocate out of germany to the UK because of the racism..
they do not equate thru a socialist concept called "European Union".. there really is no union, hence Brexit about to happen, the UK is leaving Europe.

Being Jewish isn't just religion, it's quasi race/religion, as there is matrilineality, passed down through the mother. Jewish history is of migration since the diaspora, and their identity has been preserved to strict adherence to their religious laws, which clearly state that one can't be converted in, which implies race. It's interesting how many people wouldn't mind being lumped into the "white" category, but protest being categorized "browns" or "beiges" if arabic, semitic, south indian or mestizo puerto rican.
