Well, that depends on if its a union shop where the flag is located. Then it could be VERY expensive what with administrative costs, travel expenses, and overtime.

they probably have to hire outside contractors from a union shop since lowering the flag isn't in the job description of the regular workers.

Actually, he was pretty famous. Twitter (where I found out about his death) was ablaze with the news and his IMDB message board went absolutely crazy. It nearly imploded.

Did you know that you can go on a Sopranos Tour?

In a touching tribute, Holsten's Ice Cream in Bloomfield, after fans packed the place after word of Gandolfini's death, left "Tony's" table "reserved" for him:

He wasn't famous to everyone; not everyone watched the Sopranos or other movies he was in. Twitter, Sopranos tour, Holsten's tribute...still no reason(s) to lower flags. He was an actor.

the "solider" puts his life at risk to do a job that helps keep us free (or helps enrich politicians and defense contractors). a "distinguished citizen" like james gandolfini does a job so that he can get fat, rich, high on cocaine, bang hookers and die in Italy.

Seriously? Who cares?
We all have precious little time here, not just Gandolfini. Who wants to waste a minute of it getting upset about this nonsense.

What a joke this is--glorifying mobsters. Okay people who portray mobsters. Obviously he ate in real life like he did on the show--that's why he got a heart attack so young.

It would be nice if the media gave the higher level of coverage of the half-staff orders for the military. but since we're so desensitized to war now, maybe they know people will just gloss right past it. there was a great guest on Bill Maher's show recently, can't remember his name, but they were talking about journalists and how there are very few 'reporters' who report on the realities of war, like they did during Vietnam. I'm not sure if it's that Americans don't want to hear/see it, or if reporters just don't care to do it, or if the large companies who own the fews "news outlets" that still exist don't believe it will help sell their product.

I was wondering where the 'outrage' was though about Gandolfini's order, because i remember the outrage over Houston's.
