At my old house I would leave the downstairs bathroom window open on nice days. It was too small for anyone to sneak through. I leave my garage window open, nothing of value in there except for some beverages in the fridge
Problem with the garage windows open is if there is a locked door from garage to house once inside the garage the crooks cannot be seen working on the door.

Technically they can sneak through the pet door in the garage, but I don't really have any valuables. I think gone are the days where theives take televisions. Actually I have a empty safe in the bedroom they would probably take above anything else.

once they are in your garage there is no need to sneak anymore because they can just kick in the interior door without neighbors noticing.
