I walked through Wegmens for the first time last weekend after we finished our home inspection. All I can say now is that i cant WAIT to move into the area, especially if they are going to be cutting prices further.

Aldi is the cheapest place to buy groceries. It's small, and limited plus they only offer their own knock off brands, but it's even less expensive than Super WalMart. The only one I know of in NJ, however, is in Long Branch on Rt. 36.

There is one in the LInden area, but it did not rock my world.

It depends on what products. Sometimes ShopRite is much cheaper. If Wegmans is slashing prices, that will help immensely.

A&P owns A&P, Pathmark and Food Basics. Food Basics is much cheaper. I've been to the one in Wallington (not my favorite of their stores) and the one in N. Bergen (which I liked).

LOL, it's definitely no Wegman's! But you can walk out with a cart full of groceries for half of what you'd pay elsewhere.

I wish Wegman's was not so far away, though. The childcare alone makes it a worthwhile place.

I think Stop & Shop is more than ShopRite.

Anyone go to a Food Basics?
I tried the Food Basics in Belleville when I lived there. I needed a Lysol bath after walking out of the place. Hands down the dirtiest supermarket I have ever walked into.

It's amazing how much they can vary.

I'm wondering if that's the case w/ Aldi's too because I did not like Linden but I've heard about others that people swear by. The Food Basics in N Bergen is really nice and you can get some super duper deals. The one in Wallington, you want to bring a flashlight to see the lighting is so poor and place so dingy.
