It will still be 100 degress at 10:00 tonight and it will be about 95 and very humid tomorrow morning at 8:00. Doing it now is actually cooler. 1/2 done, 1/2 to go.
OK, plan ahead... Timberon Western day will be July 3, 2010 next year.. JDTH, I hope you are planning on entering the pie contest We need new blood in it.. I won this year, and Kent won last year.. But I am already thinking for next years entry...
CD picnic will be around that time also...
We would really like to attend. The picture of everybody at your place was great. It is too early for us to commit, but it is definitely on the calendar. I know it is a pie contest, so I am assuming cheesecake doesn't count as a pie, but I've been told I make a mean chocolate orange cheesecake. If that doesn't fit the criteria then I have a year to come up with a pie. Key lime sounds good! Don't steal my idea now. I will also need tips on high altitude baking as I have never done this before.
Obviously I survived the DEATH ZONE one more time.

Key lime was last years entry for me.. Just don't have to much zest - thats what did me in.. I have just baked the pies the same as I have at 600'. Maybe its the yeast or levening that needs different baking? I am not sure.
I don't know how you deal with the heat over there. Joyce and Pete head home today, I think , they have stayed a day longer in the hot 80 degree weather here.
Joyce is Bearsmom right? No she doesn't want to head back to Phoenix today!! (115 today) I know they probably have to, but she was telling me hopefully this is their last summer here. I don't blame them. Dawn and I still have at least 10-15 more summers here. Dawn is only in her 40's. I was not thinking ahead 30+ years ago (just kidding) when I met her. She was only 17 at the time.
I have been thinking of a few other ideas for pies too.
I've made pumpkin pie here last fall and had forgotten to make adjustments to the crust but it turned out fine anyway but I don't use yeast so I don't know about that.
I have made yeast bread here a couple of times and cannot get that right so I make non yeast breads now.
I usually make a bread recipe that Towanda posted in the high altitude section of cooking and I make a bread recipe my mom gave me and they both turn out good.
Have you guys ever heard of Sugar Cream Pie? It's an Indiana original and specialty( and also the state pie). To get the recipe check out the "Indiana Specialty Foods/Recipes" On the Indiana board. They are extremely delicious!!
Good Afternoon it's a cool 70 degrees with thunderstorms here in Indiana.
Gosh it's going to be hot today. Hope the air conditioner holds up. Went outside to do a little work, picked up a pair of pliers sitting in the sun, and nearly burnt my hand. Fair skinned people should cover up on these kind of days.
Especially in NM where the sun is hotter and fairskinned people like myself got a little sunburned being mostly in the shade last weekend.
