I used to take my children to Storyland. It was refurbished a little before KAtrina but now it is all sparkling new. My grandkids love it and I enjoy it. They have all the nursery rhyme characters in climbable form - a blue whale you can walk into, a stuate of Littel Miss Muffet to see, a Cow/Moon you can sit on, a very tall dragon slide, and many others. It's located next to the amusement park for kids, with a carousel (we used to call it the "flying horses"), several rides, and a train that goes all around the park. There's cafe that sells hotdogs, hamburgers, etc. It's a great way to spend a few hours with children.

I always loved Storyland! Back in the day you used to enter through the Old Lady's Shoe which I loved because it was my size and the adults had to squeeze through or go around. Pinocho's Whale was my favorite because it had the water. I can remember during warm weather Mom let us play in the children's fountain after we left. I haven't been there in a while, but the niece is two years old now and I think I'm gonna have to kidnap her for a few hours and go .

I had forgotten th shoe! It's been moved to another location, or maybe the entrance has been moved. I heard someone tell her granddaughter they could ride the flying horses - I was pleased someone else still called them that.

Default Pictures

Here is one picture of City Park, taken at the end of Sept. Then some of Storyland, with the kids' faces blurred. Sorry, got one in there twice and can't figure out how to get it out!

Thank you SouthernBellInUtah for the pictures! I showed my 3 year old and it's all she can talk about now. In fact, my family loves hearing her try to pronounce Louisiana (she calls it looloosana) so my sister asked her where we were moving again, and she proudly proclaimed "to my looloosana park, where I am going to live in the carousel!" Ha ha, I guess our family will soon be on a first name basis with the 'flying horses'. I can't wait. Looloosana here we come!
