That is great! Although this happy news for me is dampened by the fact that my lease ends in July and will have to pay rent at my current place as well as payment for the new apt for May-July

How are other people handling this?

I did not build the extra into my budget and it looks like I wont be able to re-rent the apt sooner than that...agrrr!

Anyone successful in breaking their lease without having to pay till the end of it? Any tips?

I found a link to a floor supply website, which sell the products we need for our floors. Their prices seems reasonable:
hardwood-floor=cleaner-bonax-squeaky-ift-mop-kits EZ glides

Hi guys, two things. I think this has been discussed already but I'm not patient enough to sit and go through all of these pages :/ Any thoughts on which is better, TWC or Fios? I know the apartments are wired for both and I'm seeing pros and cons for both. Would love some advice from someone who has had either/both! Thanks!

Secondly, if anyone is interested, I have a very lightly used double mattress with boxspring that I'm trying to get rid of. I also have a bedframe for it that I will include. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll give you the details

have you spoken to your landlord? It is "rental" season and they may be interested in dumping you to get someone else in at a new tenant rent increase. They may also let you advertise to bring in someone to replace you. of course if it has some furniture in it you might attempt a 3 month sublet using a company called airbnb.

I currently have Fios and I LOVE IT. Best thing I ever done, and will definitely have it transferred over. They have great prices, with great features and great customer service.

My advice would be to just communicate w/your LL, you might be surprised at what could be worked out. If you have had a decent relationship w/LL that will of course help. It does not hurt to try and explain your situation to him. My lease ended in January and I did not sign a new one, I am still here w/o paying the new rent. I explained my situation to the LL/, (waiting for the bank) and for whatever reason, he never bothered me. I finally gave him notice, and he is returning my deposit and I will make sure I leave the apartment in good condition.

Default FIOS yes, but when?

My advise is to order it as soon as you close. The wait time for an appointment is crazy. my appointment is not until the end of the month.

The landlord is allowing me to advertise but no strong interests. They have a broker who is also looking for renters but said he won't be able to rent it because it has not been renovated in 30yrs. Landlord just wanst the guaranteed income for 3 mo. so they can go in and renovate it while I am paying rent and not living there - its abhorrent.

They would not allow a sublet at all...so frustrating.

My managing company is horrid - I have never created any problems and have paid rent on time for 12 years. Still, they don't care. It takes them 6-9 mo to make repairs, sometimes years...

I have explained the situation - have given them notice in early Feb. etc...they don't care - I am very frustrated but that is reality in NYC.
