Well you are close to my point. If they would pre-qualify us then we would be given a category. Then we would use that to match it against the various buildings and we could apply to the matching categories. That way it basically comes down to drawing the lottery and then they could ask for more updated info. Provided people aren't cooking their books it would make it easier for everyone.

Thanks! I'm actually hoping this works out because I'm still in the income range and the neighborhood is convenient (4/D train to 161st Street/Yankee Stadium). Now is the fun process of getting my documents together. I agree, if the general application screened for income and only allowed you to apply to ones you're eligible for, it would be easier. The only issue is if your income changes after you apply, you wouldn't be able to change your application.

Well you can't change an application after you apply now. But in my thinking they could allow you to update your info and then they would re-evaluate your status.

Well how is affordable housing supposed to look? especially given that market renters will be in the same building.
Let's just hope that people don't do that air B & B stuff in these units.

That's already happening when some affordable housing units; I've also seen people rent our rooms on Craigslist. I hope HPD cracks down on these fools who ruin it for everyone else

Well that's the thing. Instead of being respectful they just take advantage.
It sucks!

no not yet, but best believe I have my 2014 and 2015 tax papers already printed out. my daughter's birth certificate and ss card already copied. I don't think i need a rent verification letter because I live at home but i do pay rent. So if they need that I can write one and have my mom sign it and have it notarized. So I am just sitting pretty and waiting for the email/mail/call.
