One of the goals of the 80/20 program, I believe, is to mix people of different economic levels so that the low-income people aren't segregated. That's why the "poor door" was made illegal.

There's also the possibility that the "poor entrance" won't have doormen and niceties like that. Still, if it were me, and I were called for this lottery, I would personally go through with it.

I abhor poor doors, but the location is amazing and the apartments are supposed to be huge.
Same....it feels like forever waiting for these log numbers. How do you know the apartments are supposed to be huge?

Exactly why I'm pissed off, this is illegal but these sneaky developers somehow find loopholes. But yea, I would go to an interview if called, midtown has my heart. ❤️

It said that they were going to be quite large in several of the articles.

The affordable units are expected to rent for $800 to $1,400, and they’ll be 26% larger than HPD requires — 900-square-foot one bedrooms and 1050 or 1100-square-foot two bedrooms.

Btw, the posting just changed from "Closed" to "Lottety pending", so hopefully we'll get log numbers within the next couple of weeks. Anyone else apply?

I think it's kind of ridiculous to expect to get the same amenities that people are paying millions of dollars for.. for below 50% of market rate. Whatever the spirit of the law.. I kinda don't care. Reality is reality.. and in the real world, people have to pay more for better views. I wouldn't feel at all discriminated against to have a worse view than someone paying several times more than me. That's what they're paying for. I don't feel "discriminated against" when the car I buy for tens of thousands less than other cars has less features than those others. Money spent is, and should be, a "discriminating" factor. More money gets you more stuff. Welcome to life?

That all said.. 20K log number. I've got zero shot here anyway.

I got 27** for this lottery but I feel like there are very few units are available and I don't have CB preference so it's probably not going to happen. It's ideal for me because it would be really easy to get to work if I won this! I don't mind a poor door haha.

Sneaky developers who are getting tax breaks other New Yorkers end up paying for to subsidize your rent? Those Developers?

Pay what the market demands, not 1/4th or 1/5th and you can be choosy.

I just got my log number in 8,000s but I don't have a community board preference so I doubt if I were to get contacted for 10 Freedom Place...Ugghhhh
