When they followed up again with me before I heard from Via themselves they also asked for my 2017w2/tax returns. So sounds like they're workin on it

Interviewed on Jan 31, 2018. My LOG# 21## Was told to wait anywhere from 6-8 weeks for a response. Exactly 8 weeks later, I received the 5-day Notice, where I was asked to submit clarification of deposits and updated tax forms (tax copies/transcripts). I guess I'll have to see what happens next. I have to be honest, I am a little too excited, and working hard at not getting my hopes up at the same time. While remaining very positive, I am now going to prepare myself for the possibility of being waitlisted.

I am wondering if anyone at this point has received an official statement, stating that they have been waitlisted?

ccbk... what was your time frame from receiving the 5-day notice? I believe you mentioned two weeks? Was that two weeks after mailing out your additional documentation (5-day notice documentation). At what point in the process did they run your credit check?

I received my 5 day notice 3/9, they confirmed they had everything 3/14 and they were going to run my credit. I got a notice that my credit was ran around 3/25. 3/28 they told me I was approved and I'd be hearing from the building. Via emailed me with info about scheduling a walkthrough that same day.

When I went in to see the apartment I asked if my application was still with HPD and he said "we wouldn't show you the place if HPD didn't already approve you-- that would be cruel!"

I wonder why they asked you to resubmit paystubs, didn't you do that with your first interview? Did they also ask you to sign a student affidavit?

I think that if they ask for more paperwork then that is a good thing. I don't think they would ask if what you gave them would already disqualify you. At least that is what I am hoping. They asked for my employment verification when my paystubs clearly show that I make less than what is needed without the recurring gift income. So at least I can assume that they do accept gift income to qualify you and not just to use to disqualify people.

Although I do wish we had more information about this process. I wonder if everyone would be notified if they are put on a waitlist or rejected. Do we need to follow up with them or do we just wait? I would think if we are outright rejected we would know relatively quickly.

Anyway those are my thoughts, grasping at straws, dreaming, hoping....putting out positive energy.

I received a reply the same day saying my documents have been received but I have not received a notice that they are going to do a credit check. It sounds like that is the indicator that you are in the final stretch. And I guess it makes sense they only want to check the credit of people who have a good chance of getting in so they can pocket the other money orders.

@ccbk Thanks, I can't imagine how exciting that must have been. I live in the area and have passed by VIA a couple of times, and I must say it is breathtaking. Congrats! When is your move in date?

I 've been in communication with Wavecrest, only recently after receiving the 5 day notice. I've had questions regarding the paperwork, and I must say they are not very quick to respond, and are very vague with answers. I'm confident that I provided everything they've requested. And although I was left with many unanswered questions, I couldn't risk waiting for a response and not submitting the documents in a timely manner; I haven't heard back from them since. They did request that I submit "updated" forms to request from IRS, copies and transcripts of tax returns but didn't specify for which tax year... I remember very clearly signing off similar forms for requests for transcripts/copies during the initial interview appointment, yet wasn't sure whether this time around it is for Year 2017, otherwise wondering why they would need that form submitted once again. They did specify "updated" forms? Although I did not file my tax return at the time of the interview, I did include a copy of my W2 for 2017, which I received mid January. I just feel like when it comes to submitting requests to the IRS for transcripts and copies, especially requests that are mailed out as opposed to done electronically, may take a considerable amount of time which would then prolong an answer or decision. (I've read where the turn around time to process these requests may take up to 30 days) So not sure....

At this point I will simply wait and see what comes next. Waiting sucks though!

Is the spelling in the title of this thread typical of affordable housing applicants?
