They used to have lotteries for Condos, what ever happened to that, giving people a chance to own, instead of paying thousands to rent for a few years. The process is utterly disgusting and I'm shocked that are still conducting intake interviews when there are only a handful of apartments available. They have over a 1,000 already, why waste people's time, just to take their money and get on a waiting list.... this system is not made for you to be a single occupant moving up in the world... God forbid you get promoted before they call you a year later... I'm doing myself a favor and getting out before this new NYC crashes cause half the people here haven't even lived in NYC for more than 5yrs.

It's sad right?

But people are desperate, everybody living 7 to a 2 bedroom apartment right now, either that, or the ceiling is crashing on your head when you're sitting on the toilet.

I also was contacted (not this lottery) and was denied because I didn't reach the income requirements at the time of submission. I do now and wrote an appeal which was denied because they said I had to meet the requirements at the time of submission not as of recent. Whatever that means
Just seeing this now. That is actually SUPER bogus. Because I was dq'd because when I applied for another housing opportunity I made within the requirements and later made more and was dq'd. I'd appeal the hsd.

They still do, the problem is those lotteries are far and few in between. And those lotteries also require mailing in a paper application, I've never seen an affordable condo lottery listed on the housing connect or the mitchell lama connect websites. I actually just got an email yesterday from an affordable condo lottery that I applied to in January of 2017. They're just asking me to drop of my financials and the credit check fee, so I'll see how it goes!
Has anyone who interviewed heard anything from them??
Still nothing from me!
