Once you’re on the list, you’re pretty much guaranteed to get offered an apartment, right? As long as your family size and income meets the criteria of course.

beginning to have that discussion now. judging from the neighbors windows, both are allowed.

Many people do have shades/curtains but I'm not sure if you are technically allowed to drill into the walls yourself. The Occupancy Agreement may require that they are professionally installed.

Those who were/are on the 2014 waiting list for a studio, how long did you/have you been waiting? What is the usual wait time for a studio?

For anyone on the Penn South 2019 list with time on his/her hands and an overabundance of curiosity, here is a link to the remains of the Penn South 2014 thread. It starts on page 1, and it goes for quite a while, until at one point it was combined with all other existing lottery threads. Still, if you start on page 1, that will be all (or mostly) Penn South 2014.

There's so much information on there!!!

Also, if you want to find out if a particular poster eventually got an apartment, click on the person's name and select Find all posts by.... Then you can go to the most recent one and find out, assuming the person continued to post on City Data. That way, you can see how long people waited, etc.

Not to state the obvious, but it completely depends on your place on the list. Some people closed within a few months of the waiting list being finalized and some moved in within the last two months. Given the five-year gap between the last two lotteries I'd assume an average wait of 2-3 years. We closed on ours just over two years after the drawing. I don't recall exactly what my lottery number was but I think it was in the 80s.
