No more unlimited Metrocard for me. Now, I prefer walk if it's within Manhattan. If I need to go to Queens or Brooklyn, I will just tap my phone on OMNY screen, very convenient!

I don't use OMNY. I disconnected it from my phone because there are criminals here who steal your phone and empty out your bank account with that application and also with Zelle and Venmo. So no thanks. I'd rather be an old fashioned lady

Apply but dont bet on them as they are seeming to be slower than housing connect. The low income listings seem to be more accurate there is a new one listed every few weeks and they take off older listings more frequently
Yeah but it can't hurt. The listings are ongoing. When I initially got rejected for BC - the marketing agent offered me an apartment in 461 Dean - while it was cheaper, I flat out declined because I wanted BC. It's just increasing your chances of being called, at least you hope.

I also signed up for rerentals (yet have never received an email for one in 5 years).

I "abandoned" my old apt for my current one and I'm pretty sure, they used the waiting list to get the new tenant. Some buildings also have their own waiting list - not everything goes through HD or the one I listed.

While I have not been called - I knows others that were.

Thanks! Yeah I'm open to anywhere as long as it's safe.

Yeah doesnt hurt to apply I was giving a heads up as to how slow they are. It seems like HC is a bit faster because I applied to all those back in Feb and the only time I heard back was being told I was on a waitlist. This is for middle income though I think low income moves way faster and is more up to date because I see new listings all the time and see that they take off old ones as well

Some buildings do have their own waiting lists, I've applied to a few and havent heard back. I've also applied to some via Haven connect.

I applied to 461 Dean wish they would offer me a unit lol

I have a beef with 461 Dean. My log number was only 9xx and they bypassed me. I had applied when the building first opened. I remember feeling bad when people with log numbers of 10xxx were getting called. Then I applied later by directly responding to their “units still available†ad and nothing.

If you were paying market rate prices you should have no problems getting a lottery unit.

I already shared my mini lottery story on other forums so I'll share it here too.

I was approved for a Mini Lottery from housing connect 2.0 back in May 2022. My name was randomly entered in because I signed up for "re-rentals" my log # was "9" the process was super quick!!! I was contacted in April 2022 and I was approved by HPD in May 2022 and also I signed my lease. I officially moved in June 2022. I do not want to say the name of the building because I do still live here but I will share that I live in a studio (550 sq ft) washer and dryer in the unit (I'm so happy about that!!!) stainless steal appliances, dishwasher, very large gym, rooftop, doorman, package room, and the best of it all the rent is $880 located in Williamsburg!!!

I love my building and love all of my building amenities. I don't have any complaints at all about my building and I don't plan on leaving unless I get called for a 1 bedroom of course.

That is my mini lottery story!
