Did they ask you specifically for your 2023 W2? Most people are only producing their 2022 W2s, at least for a month or two more.
The first and second round of docs they asked for 2022 but I got my third request today and they’re asking for 2023 now :-/. Should I just say that I don’t have it now?

In many circumstances 2023 W-2 are now available by Feb 7. Saying you don’t have the 2023 W-2 is not a good idea. Get the 2023 W-2. “The dog eat my W-2” is not a sufficient reason to not provide it. You need a solid “note from a doctor” or written explanation from your employer why a 2023 W-2 is not available.
If you want to get a unit in this building, Speak today with your employer’s Human Resources department and obtain your W-2. If it exists you should be able to get it quickly and electronically.
Saying you don’t have the 2023 W-2 could stall the process. You might miss getting a unit. They might reject you. Such a rejection may or may not be allowed for not providing a 2023 W-2, but if it’s against the rules to reject you for that reason then you will need to challenge that and get it overturned. To take this path of not providing a 2023 W-2 is to risk the last unit being taken not by you but by someone else.
Refusing to submit a document that is easy to provide is not the way to prevail in a housing lottery.
With 2023 W2s just released, you should not be rejected. They could have you sign an IRS 4506 form and they can request the information themselves directly from the IRS at a later date. I was recently approved by HPD for another lottery (2 to be exact) and no 2023 tax documents were needed.
I submitted docs to another lottery agent months ago and they submitted me to HPD with what they had. It was approved. No 2nd, 3rd, or 4th requests for documents were needed. So I don't think it's HPD that's requiring all this back and forth on documents I think it's the marketing agents and developers. That's just my humble opinion.
just scheduled my preapproval tour! anyone having any issues with the agent requesting the same docs over and over again even though they’re attached in previous emails?
Happens all the time. Many agents are shockingly disorganized for people who hold others' chance at affordable stable housing in their hands.
Also, if the documents age past a certain point, they are required to request updates.
Ah, thanks! Yeah these docs are max 2 weeks old. I keep getting asked for 401k statements and Venmo balances and statements over and over again. Nothing I can’t do, but just frustrating because I’m trying my best to be organized and get this process moving. I’m just happy she they’re not requesting anymore notarized docs because that’s been a hassle.
Log 4xxx and was requested to send in documents. I made an appointment to turn them in for the 16th but emailed them everything requested afterwards and was wondering should I be expecting an email about more documents and such or wait until the 16th to start emailing with inquiries? Also do my chances look good if I’m contacted for docs and I’m in the bracket requested
