Oh no please avoid MillBrook, millbrook is AKA Killbrook, there is a ESU van parked outside of Millbrook projects all day everyday, its dangerous over thier its one of the most dangerous areas of Mott Haven. Jackson is also very rough, Webster I will avoid if I was you its also no joke but that area has been quiet lately. Patterson is bad but its very communal like of a community organizaTion happens in Patterson. IF I was you should pick Throgs Neck however its very far from the city compared to the very bad ones in the South Bronx.

I would definitely say Throgs Neck. However, its only downside is its distance from Manhattan.

On this list, Throggs neck is the best one, but THROGGS NECK has gotten pretty bad as well, but it is not as bad as the rest on your list Honestly. As bad as Throggs Neck is, it is heaven compaired to those other ones. I live in Throggs Neck, and since 2006, this place has become very dirty, it was never like that before. We have a murder at least once a month sometimes twice, we have lots of shootings, we have gangs, drug dealers but we are still not as bad as those other ones that you asked about. Just dont let them put you on Dewey Ave or Balcom Ave if you pick Throggs Neck. Those are the area's that have the most problems. Although, the buildings all over the complex are kept poorly, due to no staff, and the grounds are terrible as well, it's still a pretty place if these bumbs stop destroying it. So these are the facts. Wish you luck, God Bless

I live in the Throggs Neck area, Beautiful place, safe, clean. But not the projects, the projects bring the area down, only because NYCHA no longer screens the tenants before moving them in.

True (though technically, it only requires one fare now).

But if the OP doesn't need to go into Manhattan, it doesn't matter. For local travel (supermarkets, doctor, etc), the Bx40/Bx42 buses run fairly frequently, and for those rare occasions where the OP will need to reach Manhattan, he can take the bus to Westchester Avenue and take the (6) train to Manhattan (or the BxM9 express bus if he's willing to pay the $5.50 fare)

I have been a believer in public housing forever. I have concluded that it no longer works. The waiting lists, if you live that long, are reserved for the most entitled people that have no alternatives and no gumption to make better of their lives. They put their names on a list and just wait - is that an indication of action, self-betterment? No.

I live in Throggs Neck Houses, they just moved the nastiest people next door to me. I wonder where they came from? they spill trash in the hallway and won't pick it up. They play the music very loud all night. They have 5 uncontrolled teens, and the mother has no class at all. Why do the good tenant have to deal with such trash. I have hard working people in my building, and we like to live in a clean place. NYCHA needs to remove all these destrutive families, send them some place dirty , where they will be comfortable. I think its time to get Throggs Neck back, from the bumbs, drug dealers and gangs. Then it will be a beautiful place once again.
