I'm trying to get some info on the Electchester co-ops in Queens. The search I did gave some articles but nothing recent. One arcticle stated that the development was originally built for electricians around the 1940s. So if there are any electricians that live there, use to live there, or plan to live there I would like to hear from you or anyone that has some info to share.
I don't live there but have some friends who do. I'm pretty sure there's a lengthy waiting list or you have to know someone in the union. I'm not 100 percent certain but that's what I seem to recall when asking my friends who lived there about it.
I did hear that there is a waiting list. From what I know you have to take a bus and train to get there. The train is like 20 blocks away. I'm going to try and get some more information.
The transportation is actually not bad from there.. I live near Elechester and there is an express bus that goes straight to midtown and the bus to the train isn't bad either,, it takes you to 71st E/F station.. only 40 mins from the city... as for info about Elechester.. don't have any,, but i hear good things tho!!
::shakes head at Jewel Ave bus:: I heard somewhere the bus line was specifically created for the purpose of serving Electchester... but it's still kind of dumb that the bus doesn't continue all the way to Utopia to connect with the 30/31. It just kind of ends in the middle of nowhere. Oh well. I only worry about it because a change like that would benefit me specifically, haha.
Electchester has changed a lot-I don't think you need to be an electrician anymore, but there are families that have been there, passed them down, etc. The commute into the city is not bad at all, but watch the neighboring area..I grew up there and it has changed a LOT...
Hi,
I live In Electchester what would you like to know?
I had heard that they were co-ops and wanted to know was this still true since someone had told me that it was rentals. Most of the people I have heard from say that it is hard to get in unless you are in the local or know someone in it.
