Look before you leap, folks. Not every part of Harlem has these hot spots but you need to be aware of stuff like this if Harlem is on your list of possibilities. I'd seriously consider Queens, the Bronx or a cheaper nabe in Bklyn before having to deal with this.

Yep, I posted this in the crime thread. It's good you're trying to warn people that Harlem isn't all safe, but you know some people..."Manhattan zip code?! Sign me up! It's in Harlem? Who cares, it's Manhattan, how can I not go for it?! Besides NYC is the safest big city on earth! YAY MANHATTAN!!".

Your suggesting the BX? As if every part there is all peaches n cream? LOL !!! Theres good and bad in every part of NYC. This is ONE part of Harlem..and its not as if 50 shots is ringing off nightly. Same goes for Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, etc...
that particular part of harlem where the incident happened is one of the least desirable parts. i would not live anywhere on lenox ave above 135th but thats just me.

Only in Harlem.
Who in the right mind would live there? I understand people who cannot afford rents elsewhere or have strong family ties there, but why would anyone with cash and the option to live in another neighborhood choose that slum called Harlem? Boggles my mind.
Did anyone read the article? The police fired 46 shots at one shooter. I hated living in Harlem, but the tenor of this thread is spurious. It's like saying that you shouldn't move to CT because some guy at work may shoot you.

Yeah but shootings in Harlem are a thing that happens every few days, that CT shooting is a really unlikely event nationwide.
Shootings happen every few days in Harlem, really? Fact or just a belief? I haven't seen numbers either way.
