bronx and staten have major increases in murders this year.

sometimes i expect large increases or large decreases from staten since it doesn't have many murders a year to begin with.

Crime is on the rise, lock your doors and hide your children, and it's not even summer yet.

The uptick in murders in the 40th precinct and 43rd is alarming. What's happening? Why now? Reasons?

40 precinct had last year to date 3 murders ,this year it's up to 9. That's and increase by 300%, rapes up by 60%!!!

Weather was crummy for a while there in April. We had a recent uptick in weather more people out hanging out, more knuckleheads, more problems. That could possibly be an explanation for the uptick in stats. There usually is some sort of bump up around this time.

I see things haven't changed that much in this thread. I haven't been on city board in ages but I see the same arguments being hashed out. It's never going to change because people either have an optimistic or pessimistic outlook. It is what it is.

This story just makes me shake my head. A vicious dog trained to kill was left alone with three small children in an apartment in Brownsville. The dog mauls the 4 year old to death. Apparently all the warning signs were there, yet this crime was allowed to happen anyway. The mother and mother's boyfriend should be prosecuted.

I'm sure the mother knew about the potential risk of leaving the children alone with the dogs. But yet she went out, probably to get her fix. Makes me sick.

To Rikers Island with them.

I was saying the samething, it was a cruel winter for most people especially minorities. As soon as spring hit and the weather got warmer more and more people hanging out in front of bodegas and in front of building entrances tenement or Project.

In other news a 5 year old girl gets shot by a stray bullet in the soundview section of the Bronx.

Mott Haven has ten murders now I heard someone got shot over the weekend I dont know if that person survived. Like I said I spoke with a detective and he told me he I does not know why Mott Haven has a huge jump in murders all of a sudden. Half of the murders in Mott Haven are not drug or gang related too. I dont know why people are taking thier angers out on others for silly reasons and then end up killing them. Mott Haven generally generates 14 murders a year this year it might hit 24-30.

If this is gonna be the case, I would very much like to know how many of the victims had nothing to do with criminal activity and if it turns out that many of the victims were indeed "normal" people it's time to acknowledge the fact that something has gone wrong with the "gentrification" program in Mott Haven.
