If that's not something you can do, then you shouldn't live here.

And 500-600k would be probably 4500 total. That's not terrible if you have other money coming in.
1000 for transportation, not just for a car. We need to buy metro card, or rail pass, parking permit in the train station if living in the suburb.

1500 for food, travel, entertainment is quite tight. Let's say 500 a month for grocery. 200 for my lunch at work. 300 for dine out (once a week, that's not too luxury). there is only 500 left for everything else, like travel, clothes, etc.

1000 for food for a family is not insane. And I 'd agree 1500 for all of those things is tight.

If you think yuan is going to depreciate against dollar, ask Obama and his administration to stop saying China is artificially keeping yuan low to boost exports.
Why should he stop saying what is ABSOLUTELY true!

That the Chinese are using artificial controls to boost (and control their economy (and population).

i agree he is telling the truth. but the fact is that almost all countries use artificial controls one way or another to boost their economy. the US is printing money like crazy. and look at the budget deficit. it is worse than Greece. US is printing money and borrowing money to keep its economy afloat.

You really might want to consider dropping the whole employing someone else scheme. Its not a necessity.
You hit the nail on the head. I was just thinking the same thing. Why need a nanny if the wife isn't working? The OP said his wife "will try to" find a job for extra income. Unless a person NEEDS to work for income, there is no real need for a nanny.

I didn't even catch that - his wife is staying home and they still intend to employ someone??

I'd like to hire someone to open the fridge door in my kitchen and provide me with my selected items - but I just can't justify it.

If you're looking for a house/apartment with space you MIGHT want to check out Elmhurst in Queens. Plus there's a lot of Chinese people there.

ON this link.
Elmhurst, NY 11373 Real Estate, Apartments & Houses for Rent - HotPads

You could find apartments in Queens. But be warned in Elmhurst according to this site the rent is over $2k a month for 3 bedrooms.

You might want to check the eastern section of Queens but I can't help you with the prices.
