Way to stereotype against one ethnicity when in fact this would be the case for any neighborhood that is predominantly one ethnicity, not matter what ethnic background or race.

find the same type of thinking from some of the people in the neighborhood that anyone look different
from them is considered outsiders. They may expressed differently, but still all the same. It's unfair to
single out only Italian neighborhoods. Every race/ethnicity got their own bigots if you look hard enough.

I agree. Queens is very ethnic.
What I don't understand is why the people would have a problem with her selling them pies, cakes, etc.?
It's not like a long, drawn out conversation is needed to point to what you want and have the cashier ring it up.
But in this case, I don't believe the owner was outright racist. She told the girl the truth and she even recommended another bakery for her to look into. She DID like her, but she knew her clientele.
I don't believe she should have been sued for this. The woman obviously liked her. She just couldn't hire her for this particular business. She could have lied and said that "we're still interviewing", but she didn't. I respect people who are honest with me.

That is only what the owner thinks. Does not mean it is actually the case. As long as the cashier is respectful, polite and professional, it does not matter what race she is. If they say thank you and you're welcome rather than umhmm, it would work out just fine.

But maybe the owner knows how her clientele "thinks". I don't know. I kinda feel bad for her, because I don't believe she's "racist" per se.
The government should have zero say in the hiring practices of private businesses.
Couldn't be further from the truth. In this country there are constitutional rights and freedoms. As a private business you have the right to hire people but those people have the right to not be discriminated against.

The amendments protect you from the government, not from private individuals... Way too many people fail to realize this.

The constitution safeguards the rights of its citizens. One right is protection against discrimination based on a protected class, once of which is race and supercedes the rights of a business to discriminate
